Eric at the Berlin Wall

Eric surfing Rags in the Mentawai Islands
With 25 films and 500 episodes of television to his credit, Eric is the epitome of the working composer. Born in Missouri, he grew up in Southern California and spent several summers in his mother's native Norway. He credits this time in the land of Ibsen, Grieg and Munch for launching and inspiring his creative calling.
In college at UCLA he was mentored by famed composer David Raskin (Laura) and fronted a busy band. Upon graduating he took the route of countless artists before him and moved to Paris, then on to Berlin, a city that was still divided between East and West. Barely scraping by on solo piano gigs in expensive hotels amid smoky lounges, Eric got a big break working with electronic group Tangerine Dream, writers of the renowned score for Tom Cruise’s
Risky Business. After working with Tangerine Dream on Ridley Scott's Legend, also starring Tom Cruise, Eric was commissioned to write a new score for a major re-release of Battleship Potemkin, Sergei Eisenstein's 1925 epic masterpiece. The premiere was a sensation at the Berlin Film Festival and Eric was lured back to L.A.
While best known for film and television, Eric has stayed true to his classical roots by composing for theatre, opera, ballet, and piano, and has released several CD's featuring songs, piano compositions, and children's collections.
A serious surfer, he recently traveled to the Indian Ocean to surf the Mentawai Islands, where he was blessed with ten days of continuous overhead sets.
