Battleship Potemkin
2007 was a monumental year in theater for Eric as he saw the production of his first ballet!
The Sea Princess, created with artistic director Kim Masselli for the Pacific Festival Ballet, was recorded in St. Petersburg, Russia with the Zazerkayle Theater Orchestra, then opened to rave reviews and a standing-room-only debut at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.
Two other theater projects that remain close to Eric’s heart are his original operas/musicals Battleship Potemkin and Voices From The Cellar. Battleship Potemkin is an adaptation of the classic Eisenstein film (see biography), while Voices From The Cellar is a post-modern take on the archetypal lone hero, in this case a downtrodden figure from the ghetto risking his life to stand up to a vicious villain despite being abandoned by everyone he knows. Battleship Potemkin was presented at the York Theater in New York City, and Voices from the Cellar was produced at the Los Angeles Theater Center.
Eric has also created music for numerous Los Angeles-area stages, including the Los Angeles Theatre Center and the South Coast Repertory Theatre. His theatre work has been the winner of two Dramalogue awards.
